Android Apps to Monitor the Philippine Stock Exchange

I recently got an Android phone, a Samsung Galaxy Infuse courtesy of my employer. It’s a nice smartphone but I have some reservations about it. Though it is a free phone from our mobile carrier, the fact that it has data plans that allows me to be reached by email is the one thing that kinda make it off. I just like phones that are simple enough. I got it a couple of days ago and I have already sleepless nights figuring out how it works and how to operate the various apps that I can get free at Google Play.

But nonetheless it is still a useful tool. One thing that it is useful to me as a trader is that I can view my stock bids/sell right away. I have browse the web for apps that showcase Philippine Stock Exchange listed stocks and so far I came up with two: Bloomberg and PSMonitor Free.

I guess you all know Bloomberg. It got most of the top news around the globe and they have the latest scoop of the listed stocks in all known exchanges. To search for Philippine Stock Exchange listed stocks just add “:PM” to the stock symbol.

Also the Bloomberg app is neatly layout to fit in the small screen of most smartphones. With a headline slider which you can customize and a snippet of news below it you can easily tap which news you want to learn more about. Also with the simple “Menu” on the lower left you can do pretty much the essentials.

Search a stock using  the Stock Finder and a one page presentation with a chart pops. Also you can click “Add to My Stocks” to have all your favorite stock all in one folder for you to analyze later on.

Tap the chart and it will fill the entire screen in landscape. It’s a basic graph and it is all that you need.

PSMonitor Free is designed solely for Philippine Stock Exchange listed. It is a very simple app that updated real-time. The first screen is made up the list of PSE stocks and four tabs below for stock grouping. The list contains the stock symbol, the name of the company, last traded stock price and the change.

Click the arrow on the side and it opens to screen containing the same info but this time including Previous Close and the %Change.

It is a simple app to track the price of the stock you are following.

I am using Stock Today Android app. Its really amazing. Tried many stock market apps in the market but this is the best one with global stocks. Important feature of Stock Today is the Widget. Try this app.
